The Anchor Section

The Anchors

The Anchor Section is for children aged 5 to 8, equivalent to Key Stage 1 (school years 2 & 3).

We try to make our programme fun! Beside the usual fun and games, we have produced some imaginative crafts and become expert “parachutists”. Other firm favourites during our games sessions include traffic lights, relays, head and catch and much more. We also have a 10-minute worship session where the lads are encouraged to get involved, learning about Jesus and the different stories in the bible.

We also had a great time with Anchors from other BB Companies to take part in a superb Fun Day organised by the Battalion.

The Anchor section uniform is a red Boys' Brigade sweatshirt, a blue polo shirt and dark trousers, with an armband on the right arm showing their awards.

The New Anchor Boy Programme, which the Boys' Brigade has recently introduced, has proved to be successful. The idea behind the programme is to have more lads gaining awards. The activities include Body, Mind, Spirit, Community and Creativity.

The awards are:

In Fancy Dress
Green Badge (age 5/6) - 12 activities from each topic
Red Badge (age 6/7) - 18 activities from each topic
Blue Badge (age 7/8) - 18 activities from each topic. The Blue Badge is the highest award the Anchors can achieve and they also gain promotion to the Junior Section.
